Why you should select Wap Spotted for your foals Sire
Wap Spotted, a *Medallion* sire, was shown only two years on the demanding AHSA rated circuit, but received year end hi-point awards for both. His training was cut short by a breeding accident.
Wap Spotted, recieved an award in 2006 from APSHA for his high scoring get.
Wap Spotted, has many times outproduced himself. He has sired winning athletes out of $300 auction mares to ISR premium mares, including such notables as Waps Con Game and Dressage at Devon champions, NF Theodore and Wapsicle. After all, A stallion’s worth can only be measured by the quality of his get!
Wap Spotted’s sire, a double-bred Wapiti, and his dam, a double-bred Prince Plaudit, both champions, have created this stallion that can not be duplicated. Wap Spotted’s get are influience greatly by this great cross of Wapiti and Prince Plaudit. .
Today Wap Spotted’s offspring can be found competing worldwide in Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, and of course, the United States. Wap Spotted consistently sires exceptional foals out of all types of horses – from everyday grade mares to champion show mares. His offspring are most often well over 16 hands high with the large bone and long, graceful stride typical of horses bred for English riding disciplines. Wap Spotted’s foals compete regularly and successfully on demanding American Horse Shows Association (AHSA) circuits. The Appaloosa Competitive All-breed Activities Program (ACAAP) implemented by the Appaloosa Horse Club allows Wap Spotted's ApHC-registered offspring competing in open breed competition to be recognized and rewarded by the ApHC for their accomplishments. Wap Spotted’s get excel in a number of events from dressage to jumping to driving, some even competing in western riding events.
Wap Spotted has been featured in magazines such as Appaloosa Journal, Hunter & Sport Horse, and Horse Illustrated; he was featured in a 1991 “Horses of the World” calendar, and in 2000 his image was made into a Breyer model for the company’s 50th Anniversary.
Wap Spotted’s color production,
Wap spotted is Homozagious for the black, his actual color is seal brown which is in the black group. If you were to look close at Wap Spotted you would never know he is seal brown. The seal brown actualy gives the spots some depth.
The Mares genotype contrubets to the color of the foal, there for it is hard to calculate the exact percentage of colored foals Wap Spotted produces. When the MARE is ApHC with full caharteristics we would expect 95% color generally with large spots. If the MARE is a SOLID CHESTNUT or SORREL with little or no white we would expect 80% color with large spots. If the MARE is a SOLID BAY with little or no white we would expect 68% color generally with big spots.

The method used to insuminate the mares was the two Dose method. A general discription of this method is to adminster HCG when the mares folicle reaches 35 to 40 mm, and insuminate the first Dose 24 hours later. The next Dose would be insuminated either 16 hours later or when the mare ovulates.
Problems with Frozen Semen
We recommend fresh cooled semen over frozen semen inside the contential US. The conception rates with frozen semen is lower than fresh cooled semen. Frozen semen must be thawed in a precise manner and once thawed only lives about 6 hours. Mares must be palpated every 6 hours to accurately pinpoint ovulation. It is escential to find a Veterinarians that is Sucessful in handeling frozen semen. Most frozen semen is sold by the straw (dose) without any guarantees.
If you have a Veterinarians that is successful with frozen semen you will find that you can save money by buying 30 doses of frozen semen and use it when you need it. It will always be on hand and ready for breeding. If you want to breed Febuary 2, you will find frozen semen is just what you are looking for.

Why is Wap Spotted at McCoy Farms
Cheri Moats previous owner of Wap Spotted sold us a breeding breeding contract for 10 breedings prior to breeding season of 2002. During the breeding season 2002: Wap Spotted had a successful breeding season, in July or august Wap Spotted took some time off to heal a cracked vertebrae which was in his neck. In 2003, Wap Spotted was removed from Kismet Farms, and standing at a new reproduction facilities. While he was at this facility, I requested 4 or 5 shipments of semen (cooled) and had no successes. I contacted Cheri Moats and she said she did not know what the problem was but they collected and shipped 22 breedings which resulted in only 1 pregnancy. At the end of this period, Wap Spotted was shipped to friend of Cheri’s in Indiana. In spring of 2004, Teddy was shipped to Gumz Farms. Amy Gumz first ran cultures on Teddy and found he was infected with Streptococci. Amy said she treated him with everything in the medicine cabinet. Amy treated the semen and was able to maintain clear cultures for every collection. While Teddy was at Gumz Farms, he was available for cool shipped semen for a limited time. In 2004, I was shipped two breedings and both mares were ultrasounded, and determined pregnant. One mare didn’t settle. The other mare produced a Wap colt in 2005. Amy tested Teddy’s semen for success in freezing. Once she established that Teddy’s semen could be frozen and thawed successfully, he was collected and semen was frozen. Teddy has proven to have a very high success rate with the frozen semen. Once breeding season was over, Teddy was moved from Gumz back to Cheri’s Friend the farm in IN.
In October 2005 Cheri and I had several discussions about how she was going to fulfill my breeding contract, by January 2006 we had reached an agreed that I would purchase Wap Spotted and all Frozen Semen. I moved Wap Spotted back to Gumz Farms to be tested. At first, Teddy could not be collected because of the infections. Amy obtained several cultures and sent them in to the lab. I had a transport pick him up and bring him to McCoy Farms here in Sanger, California.
